When is it time to make an improvement?
Everything in your home has a "service life", or a time period in which it is designed to remain functional. All
components with moving parts (doors, windows, switches etc) will wear out at some point. Any surface area exposed
to wear and or weather (floors, counter tops, doors, siding) will also show wear and tear at some point. When this
happens, it is a good time to consider replacement. As a homeowner, it is a good strategy to develop a list of
projects to be done as time and budget permits to avoid having to do major rehabilitation all at once.
Improvements can also make your home more efficient and attractive, for the occupants and for potential buyers. If your trying to reduce utility costs, improve functionality or comfort (eliminate drafts and cold spots), it could be a good time to consider upgrading doors, windows and other home components. |
